For Personal Injury, Don’t Talk To Insurance Adjusters

Don’t talk to an insurance adjuster if you suffer a personal injury.  The first thing you should do is to seek medical attention.  If you have relevant insurance, contact your insurance company immediately and notify them of your injury and what caused it.  After seeking medical attention and doing that, hire a personal injury attorney as soon as possible.  When insurance adjusters, from your own insurance company or from the other party’s company, try to contact you, tell them you have hired an attorney and give them your attorney’s name and contact information.  Do not say anything else to them.

The reason that I say this is because insurance companies, whether it’s your or your opponent’s, are in business to make money first and foremost.  One way that they make money is to pay out nothing or as little as possible on claims.  Adjusters will try to get you to say things that can be used against you in settlement negotiations, a court case, or arbitration, which are the three methods you have of getting compensated for your injuries.  For example, they may try to get you to say things that show that the incident that caused your injuries was entirely or partly your fault.  The job of adjusters is not to help you, but to get you to settle your matter for as low of an amount as possible.

If you’ve suffered a personal injury, first seek medical attention immediately.  Second, contact a personal injury attorney as soon as possible.
